Dermatology

Your skin is your body’s largest organ. It covers and protects your body.

Your skin:

  • Holds body fluids in, preventing dehydration
  • Keeps harmful microbes out, preventing infections
  • Helps you feel things like heat, cold, and pain
  • Keeps your body temperature even
  • Makes vitamin D when the sun shines on it.

Anything that irritates, clogs, or inflames your skin can cause symptoms such as redness, swelling, burning, and itching. Allergies, irritants, your genetic makeup, and certain diseases and immune system problems can cause rashes, hives, and other skin conditions. Many skin problems, such as acne, also affect your appearance.

HPV Shot

HPV is a common virus that is spread through sexual contact. There are several types of HPV. Many of the HPV types do not cause problems, however, some types of HPV can lead to cervical cancer and genital warts. The human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine protects against infection by certain strains of HPV.

Insurance policies will often cover the cost of HPV shots. Dr. Das will provide information to your insurance company for authorization.

STD Screening

The Screening  checks the seven most common std’s chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomonas, HPV, mycoplasma genitalium, mycoplasma hominis, ureaplasma urealyticum. By a Q-tip DNA probe for which the lab will charge you $90 within 60 days of testing.

Skin / Vein Treatments

Three sessions of laser treatment, at least 3-5 weeks apart, are recommended for best results.

Prices for these procedures will be discussed with you in advance. Prices listed below are typical for this type of procedure although prices may vary.

Birth Control / Period Problems

Birth control pills have been shown to be helpful with controlling acne and reducing period cramps and facial hair. Studies also show that birth control pills can help prevent future ovarian cancer.

Other types of birth control include Depo-Provera which is the brand name for a long-acting reversible hormonal contraceptive birth control drug that is injected every three months.

Intrauterine device (IUD) with progestogen is a hormonal intrauterine device classified as a long-acting reversible contraceptive method.

Mirena, an IUD, can be effective for 5 years at a time. Most patients have minimal to no side effects with its use.

Dr. Das can provide any of these proven birth control methods and he will help to obtain authorization from your insurance company.

Period problems are often hormonal. A blood test and hormone analysis can be performed in the office and Dr. Das will recommend an appropriate treatment.

Acne / Scars

Acne treatment is virtually painless since very low laser power is used.

Insurance policies will often cover acne treatments. We will provide photographs and other information to your insurance company for authorization.

We usually recommend four to six treatments, 3 to 5 weeks apart. A series of  treatments  can yield excellent long-term results.

Painless Hemorrhoid Treatment

A gentle laser that is well tolerated is used for hemorrhoid treatment. A cooling air jet is used to anesthetize the area. These treatments often result in good relief. In some cases minor in-office surgery may be needed. Three sessions of laser treatment, three weeks apart, are recommended for best results.

Hemorrhoid treatment is covered by most insurance plans.

Stretch Marks

Dr. Das uses a combination of pulse dye, laser and YAG lasers. After treatment, up to 60% improvement will be seen because the mini-scars (stretch marks) will shrink in width.
